The 30th Annual Homer Winter King Salmon Tournament will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

In the interest of enhanced safety measures for participating anglers, the tournament committee has unveiled new protocols governing weather-related delays for the 2024 Tournament. Ensuring the safety of our anglers remains our paramount priority. We are committed to making well-informed determinations earier in the tournament week, thereby fostering an environment that is secure and enjoyable for all.

The Homer Winter King Salmon Tournament is the premier fishing tournament of Alaska. Every Spring anglers take to the waters of Kachemak Bay in search of King Salmon. 
 
The one-day tournament awards tens of thousands of dollars in prize money to the largest kings caught. Since 2021, the tournament has averaged over $200,000 in annual cash prizes and the champion fish has averaged $77,910. In addition, another $30,000 in merchandise prizes are given away through drawings and prize packages.   

After the fishing lines are pulled from the water join the festivities at the weigh-in stations by the Deep Water Dock, located at 4667 Freight Dock Road, There will be live music, beer a & wine garden, food trucks, vendors and some extra surprises as we celebcelebrate30th anniversary. 
 
The Homer Chamber of Commerce and the Winter King Salmon Tournament Committee regularly consult with our area biologists to ensure this one-day tournament does not have a negative impact on the native Lower Cook Inlet king salmon population.
